As one of your At Large City Council Representatives. I have been and am grateful for the opportunity to serve you. You have put your trust in me more than once, and I have worked hard to keep that trust. We have faced tremendous challenges together and overcome many, yet many lie ahead. A good team has been working to serve you to address needs, add services, and improve the quality of life for all Gulf Shores residents.
I believe that in order to serve the citizens of Gulf Shores that I must understand the challenges and issues that all of us face. Since moving to the area in 1991, I have lived in several areas of town, West Beach, Gulf Pines, County Road 6, and even Orange Beach. That gives me a unique perspective regarding nearly all regions of our town.
With your participation we crafted Vision 2025. It focused on mainly on Education, Healthcare, our fragile Environment, and Beach improvements. Your Mayor and Council have solidly delivered on all of them. You may learn more about it by clicking on this link. VISION 2025
Your City is financially sound with the highest possible credit rating and millions of dollars in reserve, and the departments that serve you citizens are well led, well managed, and robust. You now have a City School System that we are sure will become the envy of many systems and it happened because you the citizens asked us for it and supported us every step of the way.
We still need your participation and input, and encourage you to attend meetings and contact us with your ideas and concerns. You have found me and will find me to be visible, available, and responsive.
You have seen me in the mornings walking the beaches and taking photographs, picking up trash, notifying proper agencies of issues to be addressed, and engaging residents and visitors.
You have seen me at each and every Electronic Recycling Event since it's inception managing the operation to properly dispose of hazardous items, freeing up landfill space and protecting our environment.
You have seen me at nearly every Annual Coastal Cleanup each September collecting "trash from the splash".
You have seen me in your schools recognizing your children, reading to your children, supporting them at sporting events, and celebrating their successes with the Kiwanis Terrific Kids Program.
You have seen me at numerous ribbon cuttings for new businesses opening in Gulf Shores and welcoming them to our community.
You have seen me month after month, year after year recognizing and honoring the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber Island Spirit Award Recipients with your Island Spirit Committee.
You have seen me volunteering at the Annual National Shrimp Festival for over twenty years to help produce this beloved community event along with hundreds of your neighbors and friends.
You have called me, emailed me, texted me, talked to me at the post office, grocery store, on the beach, and on the street. You have asked me questions and I have answered. Sometimes not with the answer you wanted, but the answer you got the was the truth. You were listened to and received a response.
You have seen me for years at our Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo working with our team to make the dream of relocating your Zoo animal population to a safe, secure location that will prevent them ever having to be evacuated again due to a storm. Gulf Shores Alabama is home to the first Zoo built from the ground up in North America in over twenty years, thanks to the generosity of the Ward and Weir families, and countless board members, zoo staffers, Zoo Director Emeritus Patti Hall, and countless other community volunteers and business owners.
My contact information has been on this website for many years. Please use it!
We must work together as a community to keep the quality of our life and our services at a level we have come to expect. I am proud of our Law Enforcement, Fire Fighting personnel, and utility workers. I believe we have the best of the best and this administration has made sure they have the tools and training to stay that way. Whenever you have an opportunity, please speak with them and thank them for their service. Likewise for our veterans, active and retired. They need our recognition, appreciation, and support.
My decisions have been and will always be made in the spirit of honesty and fairness to all parties, being mindful that although I (and you) may not like something, if it is legal, the right of that party to proceed with their plans (within our guidelines) must be honored. Besides that, every situation is not black and white. Solutions and compromise do not always come from a book, but that is where they start. I will obey the law and uphold the oath I swore to defend the Constitution of the State of Alabama and the Constitution of the United Stated of America, so help me God.
It has been a privilege and honor to serve you, and I look forward to hearing much more from you. You have been and will be hearing from me!

This magnificent program that has removed hundreds of tons of unwanted items and disposed of them properly, saving landfill space and keeping your trash removal services low.
Hundreds of acres of sensitive wetlands have been purchased to reduce developable lands and preserve our precious wetlands so important to our environment.
A brand new Free Standing Emergency Room under construction in Gulf Shores radically boosting emergency services to Gulf Shores residents. Emergency transportation (ambulance) service FREE to residents if they must be transported by air or land.
Over fifty million dollars in transportation upgrades to east west corridors, Highway 59, the Baldwin Beach Express, and critical intersections in Gulf Shores. Just because you don't see it yet doesn't mean it is not happening. There are now eight foot sidewalks on each side of Highway 59, opening up SAFE pedestrian access to and from the beach to nearly every part of the Intracoastal Waterway South. A pedestrian bridge to cross the Intracoastal Waterway is in design and will be a reality soon. Each road improvement or resurfacing project in the City now adds walking and biking installations to make it safer for residents.
The entirety of Gulf Place is renovated to include new bath houses, safety buildings, a police building presence, walkable, bikeable, accessible for all, broadband service, and residents park FREE. There is at this time a dedicated parking area for residents only. Meyer Park has been upgraded with basketball courts, a full service restroom, and the free entertainment series for residents there has been wildly successful.
Your Mayor and Council have not been sitting still for the last four years. We've been aggressively seeking and implementing improvements that serve the residents more than the tourist community.
Do we still have work to do? Of course! We are as concerned about growth, zoning, small business, COVID-19, and traffic as you are and have ongoing staff research to address all these things but they do not happen in the blink of an eye. Help us identify and bring solutions!
